Semi-antique Bijar runner, measuring 4' x 18". Craftsmanship of Kurdish weavers from northwestern Iran. The rug showcases a classic diamond-shaped central medallion anchored on an open, ivory-toned field. The field and borders are detailed with floral motifs. The colors are a blend of deep madder red, navy blue, and ivory. Based in New York City, Avakian Bros. Inc. was one of the largest and most significant importers of fine Persian rugs in the United States during the mid-20th century (active from the 1920s onwards).
